Green Wire HR FR LSH PVC
APAR Green Wire is an eco-friendly house wire: an HR-FR-LSH PVC wire made with a lead-free compound. One thing to clear up, because the name causes it: this is not the green-and-yellow earthing wire. "Green" here refers to the lead-free, lower-impact compound, not the colour or the function. If you were looking for earthing conductor sizing, see the FAQ below.
Description
OverviewGreen Wire is APAR's lead free house wire: an HR FR-LSH PVC compound made without lead based stabilisers, so nothing leaches into the factory, the site, or the waste stream at the end of the wire's life. It is RoHS and REACH compliant. One thing worth clearing up, because the name causes it: this is not the green and yellow earthing conductor.
Electrically it behaves like the rest of the HR-FR-LSH range, with 99.97% electrolytic copper, heat resistance, flame retardance and a low smoke, low halogen compound. What changes is the chemistry of the stabiliser system, not the current the wire carries. It is rodent resistant as well, which is worth having in ground floor runs and false ceilings. Single core, 1100 V, 0.5 to 6 sq mm, in the usual circuit colours.

Standards & approvals
ComplianceManufactured and tested to IS 694:2010, the Indian Standard for PVC-insulated cables for working voltages up to and including 1100 V. Every drum is ISI-marked and BIS-certified.
Flame-retardant, low-smoke, low-halogen grade as defined in IS 694:2010, with rodent- and termite-resistant insulation.
The BIS licence number is printed along the wire, so an electrician or buyer can verify a genuine product at the point of sale.

Good to knowWhat does HR FR-LSH mean?+
HR FR-LSH stands for High heat-Resistant, Flame-Retardant, Low Smoke and Halogen. It slows fire spread and minimises toxic, corrosive gases and dense smoke, while the heat resistance prevents insulation failure at high continuous operating temperatures.
Where is the Green Wire best used?+
It suits residential buildings, commercial offices, distribution boards and appliance wiring where enhanced fire safety matters. For ultra-sensitive spaces such as data centres, choose a halogen-free (HFFR) wire.
How much current can a 2.5 sq mm wire carry?+
A 2.5 sq mm copper wire safely carries about 20–25 A (up to ~5,750 W on a 230 V circuit). A 4.0 sq mm wire is rated higher, around 27–32 A.
What does 101% conductivity mean?+
The copper is ultra-high purity (99.97%) and exceeds the 100% IACS benchmark, so resistance and power loss are lower — improving energy efficiency.
Is the wire RoHS and REACH compliant?+
Yes. RoHS keeps it free of restricted heavy metals such as lead, mercury and cadmium, and REACH confirms the chemicals used are evaluated and registered.
Is Green Wire the same as earthing wire?+
No. Earthing (protective) conductors are identified by green-and-yellow insulation and are sized to the circuit they protect. APAR Green Wire is a live-circuit house wire whose "green" refers to its lead-free compound. It is available in the normal phase and neutral colours.
What makes a house wire lead-free or eco-friendly?+
Traditional PVC compounds use lead-based stabilisers. A lead-free compound replaces them with calcium-zinc or similar systems, which removes lead from the product, from the factory and from the waste stream at end of life, without changing the electrical performance of the wire.
Does an eco-friendly wire perform the same as regular HR-FR-LSH?+
Electrically, yes: the conductor is the same copper to IS 8130 and the insulation is still HR-FR-LSH grade PVC. The difference is in the compound chemistry, not in current rating or fire behaviour. Check the datasheet on this page for the published figures.
