
APAR Alumshakti Round Multicore
Description
OverviewAlumshakti Round Multicore uses a stranded aluminium conductor in place of copper, with HR PVC insulation and sheath. Aluminium is lighter and costs less per metre, which is why it earns its place on longer distribution and sub-main runs where the larger conductor still works out cheaper than the copper it replaces. Two, three and four core, 1.5 to 16 sq mm.
Aluminium needs a larger cross section than copper for the same current, so size it from the current rating table on this page rather than by habit. Terminations matter more than they do with copper: use the right lug, clean the conductor, and re-check the torque after the first few weeks. Where the run is short and the terminations are many, copper is usually still the better answer, and the Shakti multicore range covers it.
