ROV cables
Description
OverviewWhile the evolution of platform and riser technologies in next-generation drill ships and in adding subsea processing to production capabilities involve incredibly complex solutions, their successful application continues to rely on ROVs that can keep pace and allow those technologies to be implemented. Since client operations are penetrating deeper than even before and given the complexity of the design as well as the mission-critical need for reliability, only a handful of cable manufacturers have earned the trust of the global ROV community. APAR develops ROV tether cables that are lighter and stronger, making them a dependable partner for all subsea activities. We also design cables for most standard ROVs and for new applications based on client specifications. Our cost-efficient subsea cables are designed to deliver reliability and performance under the toughest circumstances. We of
ROV cables carry power, control and video between vessel and vehicle while withstanding tension, seawater and repeated spooling - the link on which the whole operation depends.
Why this wire
Key benefitsCharacteristics
At a glance| Application | APAR designs cables for ROVs used in oil and gas exploration and production, defence, oceanographic and a host of marine applications. |
|---|---|
| Characteristics | An umbilical cable for ROVs must meet a range of mechanical and environmental requirements that are not common in other applications. Deepwater temperatures are typically between 0 and 3°C. What matters the most is pressure i.e.the pressure of ocean water exceeds 2900 psi (2000 N/cm2) at a depth of 2000 meters. This is a complex design and it is important that all elements work together in harmony to meet the required power, data and mechanical criteria. Each layer is defined not by function, but by the diameter of each cable element to maintain concentricity. |
| Product range | Middle weight ROV, Fall Pipe Cable, Trenching Umbilical. |
| Advantages | – High temperature resistant – Combination of high power, auxiliary power and communication – High tensile steel package that supports cable weight |
