MVCC stands for Medium Voltage Covered Conductor. It is an overhead distribution conductor that, unlike a traditional bare overhead line, is wrapped in an insulating covering.
That covering makes the line far safer and more reliable. Bare overhead conductors can cause faults, outages and fire risk when they touch trees, branches or wildlife; a covered conductor greatly reduces these accidental flashovers, cuts unplanned outages and improves safety in populated and forested areas. It is widely used to modernise medium-voltage distribution networks.
MVCC is distinct from a fully insulated power cable — the covering is for protection against incidental contact rather than full burial-grade insulation. It is a specialised utility product manufactured by APAR Industries for power-distribution networks. To discuss MVCC requirements, contact the APAR team.
