What cables does an EV charging setup need?

Quick answer

An EV charging setup needs cabling that can handle sustained high current, heat and repeated handling. There are two parts to it: the fixed wiring that feeds the charger, and the charging cable/harness that connects to the vehicle.

The supply wiring to the charge point is a dedicated, correctly-sized circuit — heavier than a normal socket because charging draws high current continuously, so conductor size and current-carrying capacity matter, and an outdoor charge point needs weatherproof cabling. The charging cable/harness itself must be flexible, heat-resistant and durable against constant plugging, bending and outdoor exposure.
