What are anti-rodent and anti-termite wires?

Quick answer

Rats and termites are a real cause of hidden wiring damage — they gnaw through ordinary insulation, exposing conductors and creating short-circuit and fire risks, often in places you cannot see. Anti-rodent and anti-termite wires are treated with safe additives that make the insulation unpalatable and resistant to such attacks.

This is especially valuable for concealed wiring, ceilings, basements and rural or semi-outdoor installations where pests are common. The protection is built into the cable, so it lasts the life of the wire without any extra fittings.

Many premium APAR house wires include rodent- and termite-repellent properties along with fire-safe HR-FR-LSH performance. Contact APAR to confirm which ranges offer it.
