The voltage grade printed on a cable — for example 1100 V — is the maximum working voltage its insulation is designed and tested to withstand safely. It is a rating of the insulation, not a description of the supply you must connect.
A 1100 V grade is the standard for general house and building wiring under IS 694. Indian mains is 230 V single-phase and 415 V three-phase, so a 1100 V-rated wire provides a comfortable safety margin over normal household and commercial voltages.
The key rule is simple: never use a cable on a circuit whose voltage exceeds its grade. Higher-voltage distribution needs cables specifically rated for medium or high voltage.
