An elastomeric cable uses rubber-like (elastomer) materials — such as EPR, silicone or similar compounds — for its insulation and sheath, instead of rigid thermoplastics like PVC.
The defining quality is flexibility combined with toughness. Elastomeric cables stay supple even in cold, tolerate heat and harsh conditions, and resist repeated bending and movement without fatigue — usually helped by finely stranded conductors. That makes them suited to demanding, mobile or rugged duty.
Typical uses include welding leads, mining and crane cables, flexible industrial connections, and renewable-energy applications such as solar and wind installations, where cables face movement and weather.
